What is SA:MP and how does it work?
SA:MP is a free multiplayer modification for GTA San Andreas. Players join dedicated custom servers running Pawn gamemodes · roleplay, freeroam, racing, deathmatch · outside of single-player. Hosts control scripts, plugins, and who can connect.
Do players need GTA San Andreas?
Yes. Players need a legitimate copy of GTA: San Andreas on PC and the free SA:MP client. As the host, you configure the server IP and port (default 7777) for them to connect.
Can I install custom gamemodes and plugins?
Yes. Upload any .amx gamemode, filterscript, or plugin via the file manager or SFTP, update server.cfg, and restart. No script restrictions.
How many players can join my free SA:MP server?
Up to 500 players on the free tier. Resources are fixed (1 GB RAM, 50% CPU, 800 MB storage). You can set a lower maxplayers in server.cfg for a smaller private community.
